Balatongyörök is a romantic little place on the north-west shore of the Lake Balaton, the biggest freshwater lake of Middle Europe.
The village itself was first mentioned in 1698. It is also called “Pearl of the Balaton” an idyllic mixture of tradition and modernization. It has also one of the nicest lidos with old trees.
East of the village from the so called “Szepkilato” you can enjoy a spectacular view over the Lake Balaton.
The familiar holiday village is situated at the side of the “Keszthely mountain” and it is surrounded by forests and vineyards. Marked footpaths guide you trough the impressive nature and various points of interest, passing private vine-cellars, which invite you to relax with a glass of vine.
The little harbour gives you the opportunity to visit many of the points of interest by boat.
In the village itself you will find a lot of cosy Csardas, Hungarian restaurants, with their traditional food and little taverns with vine of the region. The culinary food you will find here still for very reasonable prices. Little shops for your daily shopping as well as souvenir-shops invite you to stroll along.
Many events such as traditional vintage-festivals and concerts on the promenades will make your vacation unforgettable.
